Deepak Gulati writes about how he was fascinated by scans of nineteenth century tile patterns, so he built a web app that allows you to make patterns with different arrangements of the tiles.
I find the application soothing to play with. It’s fun to see what beautiful patterns you can create with these old designs. Deepak even enhanced the original catalog scans by using digitization to make a full square pattern.
As an aside, I love the design of Deepak’s blog. I’m tempted to steal inspired by it.
